About

quilts4vets supports veterans with emotional and physical disabilities
Donations of fabric, blocks, quilt tops and more may be shipped to this address.

We make handcrafted quilts for veterans from all arms of the military.

Our vets are either physically or emotionally challenged.

The love they feel when they touch the handmade quilt, made in their honor, is profound.

The quilts are distributed through several veteran’s service organizations, primarily small, locally run outreach programs.

Our primary partner is Peterson Outdoors Ministries and Lodge of Hope.

You can participate in Quilts4Vets efforts to say thank you to veterans. Simply make a heart block or other quilt block or donate materials or money.

History of Quilts4Vets

Laurie Lee Dovey founded Quilts4Vets after she retired. She was a magazine writer and photographer and media consultant for 40-plus years. She found retirement difficult and needed a focus, a cause.

While making a quilt for her husband, a Korean War era Army Airborne Ranger, her calling became crystal clear. She would make quilts for veterans and distribute them through Christian ministries that use outdoor recreation, like hunting, fishing and camping to help emotionally and physically challenged veterans.
